MODERN-RETRO: THE LATEST WEB DESIGN TREND

MOBO Media

The modern retro web design trend is becoming increasingly popular of late, with we at MOBO thoroughly enjoying working with such innovative themes. Giving users that desired feeling of nostalgia, modern-retro is a web design trend that will only become more apparent on the web over the next few months.

Like fashion, the old or ‘vintage’ inevitably comes back around, with sophisticated web designers now nodding to the humble beginnings of web design and development through image.

WHAT IS MODERN-RETRO?

Modern-retro is a theme that channels digital inspirations from the 70s, 80s and 90s, with one big benefit being that it creates an instant connection between the design and the user. Modern designers tend to take inspiration from the bygone era, using imagery such as old computers and video games to take the theme to its limits.

POPULAR FEATURES OF THE TREND

While a rather diverse theme that gives way to much creativity, there are some stand-out features. These include:

  • Pixel-based illustrations
  • Neon colour coding
  • Geometric shapes
  • Bubble-style typography
  • Referencing to early games
  • Line-style user interface elements
  • Flat design
