GOOGLE TO HIRE MORE PEOPLE TO DEAL WITH ‘QUESTIONABLE CONTENT’

MOBO Media

Google has announced that they will be hiring more staff to police ‘questionable content’. This report comes after complaints regarding the google sharing website, YouTube.

According to Google Chief Officer, Phillip Schindler, brands that use the site have bailed due to their advertisements being placed on extremist and questionable sites.

Schindler has said, “We’ll be hiring significant numbers of people and developing new tools powered by our latest advancements in [artificial intelligence] and machine learning to increase our capacity to review questionable content for advertising. In cases where advertisers find their ads were served where they shouldn’t have been, we plan to offer a new escalation path to make it easier for them to raise issues. In addition, we’ll soon be able to resolve these cases in less than a few hours”.

According to the company, an ‘escalation path’ is to be introduced for brands and advertisers to be able to complain quickly and easily. They will also be able to select where and when they want their content to be viewed. This is a way to decrease complaints and create a more efficient way of advertising.

This report comes after google have been named the best company to work for by Fortune Magazine. Google have now bagged this title 8 times in the past 11 years. Research has shown that 98% of Google workers say they are happy, and 97% say they face great challenges each day. These factors are key indications for future candidates to consider.

However, there have been no reports that state how many new staff Google will be employing. Neither have they stated when the positions will be open for candidates to apply.
