WHAT MAKES A GREAT LOGO: MOBO’S TOP TIPS

MOBO Media

When branding or rebranding a business, big or small, the first thing that needs to be decided on is the logo, with all aspects of online branding following the design, feel and style of the company logo. This is why it is essential that your logo celebrates your ethos as a corporation, relaying your niche visually.Meaningful colour schemes

Every industry has its go-to branding colours that immediately scream out a certain theme. For example if you see pale greens and blues you immediately feel clean, clinical connotations, with cleaning products and other natural items often running with such colour schemes. The same goes for colours like pink, immediately suggesting girly themes.

Although a conventional route to take it is a great way to immediately attract your target audience, identifying what you do and how you do it through the use of colour.

Swerve distracting elements

Your logo needs to simple, not intellectually testing in any way shape or form. This is why unnecessary swirls, shapes and other content is unwelcome in modern design with clean lines and simple graphics reigning supreme. As well as shapes it is always a good idea to be consistent in your colours, using one, two at the most when creating your logo imagery.

Transferable

In today’s world the majority of consumers will reach you through online platforms, therefore your logo must display well digitally and in print, hence why simplicity is key.

Kyle James, lead designer at Mobo says that when designing logos the message the artwork gives is the most important thing to think about.

‘For me a logo sits at the centre of branding, showcasing the characteristics of a business. This is why I like to keep things clean, creating a simple logo that immediately rings alarms bells in regards to what the product or service is’.
