MYSTERIOUS DAFT PUNK WEBSITE SPARKS RUMOURS OF A NEW TOUR

MOBO Media

At Mobo we believe that websites carry lots of different types of messages, with design, moving image and the content itself all there for a particular reason. However, for many the use of web design is used to confuse, suggest and create questions, an effect utilised by celebrities in particular. This week we have seen the launch of alive2017.com, thought by many fans to be connected to the French duo, Daft Punk.Having not been on tour for a decade the online community of fans have entered a sort of frenzy, sharing links to the site all over social media in order to find some answers. Seeing Twitter and Facebook turn into some sort of Daft Punk search engine many theories have been put out there, seeing the site enjoy a considerable amount of traffic over the course of the past two days.Revealing very little to the untrained eye  the site is simply a bit odd. However, experts have found several hints to its true purpose, a Daft Punk tour.

HIDDEN IN THE HTML

Working with enigmatic imagery Daft Punk are asking fans to dig a little deeper, hiding breadcrumbs and clues throughout the website’s make-up.

Going that extra mile to unveil the website’s true purpose the BBC writes the following:

‘The word “Alive” on the home (and only) page hides a countdown on the “i”. It is counting down to the 27 October 2016 – when it is believed the website’s true purpose will be revealed. The HTML spells out the longitude and latitude coordinates of Paris, Los Angeles, London, New York, Tokyo, Sao Paolo, Ibiza and Indio in California and a location close to Perth Australia.’

‘The HTML ends with a simple sign off “SHEP LOGGED OUT”.’

‘Shep was one of the lead characters in Daft Punk’s 2003 animated movie, Interstella 5555, a cartoon film set to the music of their 2001 album, Discovery.’
